This page describes what the Parva macOS application is, what it installs, what it does on your computer, and how to remove it. It is provided in accordance with Google's Unwanted Software Policy.
What is Parva?
Parva is a cognitive health monitoring application for macOS. It passively measures typing behaviour — cadence, output volume, session duration, and focus patterns — to build a longitudinal picture of cognitive function over time. It is designed for individuals managing ADHD, depression, bipolar disorder, autism, and cognitive decline, and for their clinicians.
Parva is developed and distributed by Parva Inc. The installer is available exclusively at joinparva.com and parvahealth.com. It is not distributed through third-party download sites.
What the installer does
- Installs the Parva application to your /Applications folder.
- Creates a local data directory at ~/Library/Application Support/Parva to store your cognitive data on-device.
- Requests Accessibility permissions (via macOS System Settings) to monitor typing activity. This permission prompt is shown explicitly by macOS and can be revoked at any time.
- Does not modify system files, install browser extensions, change default settings, or install any background daemons beyond the app itself.
- Does not bundle or install any third-party software.
What Parva does not do
- Does not read, capture, or transmit the content of what you type. Only timing and cadence signals are measured.
- Does not collect passwords, financial information, or any personally sensitive content.
- Does not display advertising or redirect browser traffic.
- Does not make itself difficult to find or remove.
- Does not install software on other users' accounts without their consent.
Data collection
All cognitive signal processing happens locally on your Mac. Anonymised behavioural metrics (typing cadence, session length, output volume) may be synced to your Parva account to power longitudinal reports. No content — words, keystrokes, or text — is ever transmitted. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
System requirements
- macOS 13 Ventura or later
- Apple Silicon or Intel Mac
- Approximately 45 MB disk space
How to uninstall
To remove Parva completely from your Mac:
- Drag Parva.app from /Applications to the Trash.
- Delete the data folder at ~/Library/Application Support/Parva if you wish to remove your local data.
- Revoke Accessibility permissions in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility.
No other files or system changes need to be removed.
